Science

In the 21st century Science and technology enriches many aspects of our lives. We all need to be informed users and consumers of scientific knowledge, whether or not we use science in our work.

At IST we aim for students to enjoy learning Science, to build on their natural spirit of inquiry and engagement in order to acquire a broad base of scientific knowledge.  Students learn to record and communicate scientific ideas.

Practical science in the laboratory is central to the curriculum.  Students develop their practical and problem solving skills through experiments and investigations. They value and question each other’s ideas, hypotheses and theories and develop an understanding of scientific methods through collaboration.

Exciting activities complementary to work in the laboratory also take place which have included visits to Airbus, EDF, European Space Agency and local museums. Cross curricular events in school such as the Group 4 project and ‘Great Egg Race’ style challenges also take place.
