The Primary School
The International School Toulouse Primary School is committed to implementing and further developing the Primary Years Programme (PYP) which is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12 years. It is the first phase of an International Baccalaureate (IB) education. The PYP draws on research and best practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children. The PYP offers an education that “aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect” in accordance with the IB mission statement. IST was authorised to offer the PYP in April 2018.
All members of the Primary staff inspire and challenge students to achieve their personal and academic potential. Through modelling the importance of lifelong learning the Primary teaching team help students to understand that reflection and action are essential tools in their learning journey. An inquiry based approach is used where teaching methods build upon individual understandings, knowledge and interests, emphasising how to learn and delve deeper whilst developing critical thinking skills.
