WEEKLY COMMUNITY BULLETIN

The Principal’s corner

Welcome back!

Dear students, parents and colleagues,

We are thrilled to launch our brand new weekly bulletin - #whatISThebuzz! Sent to you every Friday, it is aimed at sharing with you the wonderful learning, events, achievements, etc. that are happening week after week in our school.

For our first week, the Senior Leadership Group has chosen the theme of community. Our community has indeed come back together after the summer break, and our campus has been buzzing with excitement. As you can see above, IST staff came together last week to work on getting ready for the new academic year and also to engage in an appreciative inquiry exercise designed to help us uncover our existing strengths, advantages, and opportunities … and there are lots of them! This set a fantastic tone and as a new member of the IST community, I am really excited at the prospect of discovering, highlighting, and developing them all.

Our community is also welcoming many new families; we met our new students and their parents last Friday during our induction morning (thank you Friends of IST for organising our welcome refreshments!). Please do remember, there are plenty of ways of getting involved as a parent, for example you can join Friends of IST and help out with all the wonderful community-focused events that happen throughout the year (friendsist31@gmail.com), or you could become one of our parent delegates; a role that is key for us as a school community. Do, please, let Samar Mériaux know if you are interested in representing your child’s year group.

We would love to share photos of learning in action showcasing our students - in order to ensure we have the necessary parental permissions and consent to do so, we would  ask all parents to review our Image Rights & Consent form and check that you have ticked the boxes if you agree to IST using images / audio (no ticks mean you do not agree). Secondary parents and students also need to fill in our Personal Data Consent form. Finally, if you haven’t done so already, could you send in any annual forms, specifically insurance and medical certificates, so that all children can join in with PE activities (please email Kate Taylor).

Have a wonderful weekend,

Welcome back!

What a welcome. As a new starter at IST I have been overwhelmed with the warmth with which I have been greeted - lots of friendly smiles from staff, students and parents.

The focus of the first week has been getting to know each other and building communities. There have been home visits to new Pre Kindergarten students as well as loads of fun activities in school to help form positive relationships.

I was invited into the G3A class to see them present their “This Is Me” boxes. The children thought about their likes, dislikes, interests and personal identity and then filled a box with objects and images to represent these. They displayed amazing thinking and communication skills and learned a lot about each other. The box photographed here belongs to a new student  who joined IST this week.  I wonder if you can guess his nationality and favourite animal?

Welcome back!

It has been such a pleasure to have our students back with us this week. The first few days have been absolutely wonderful to see, with so many smiling happy faces. We are very pleased to welcome all our new students and we wish you all the best for your time here with us - do reach out to your teachers and your new friends if there is anything you need or we can help with. A particular mention goes to Grade 11 as they embark on their IBDP/Core  journey.  They acquitted themselves admirably during their G11 induction activities and trip to Toulouse!
